Shopping for Jeans

With fall and cooler weather right around the corner you wont want to be seen or freezing in a pair of shorts. Jeans are the perfect thing to wear to keep you warm and comfortable during the cold months of the year. Jean are a great choice of clothing.

During World War II blue jean were usually worn by workers especially in factories. During this time, men’s jeans had the zipper down the front, where women’s jeans had the zipper down the right side. In the 60’s men and women’s’ jeans both had the zipper down the front. Blue jeans were made popular by teenagers and young adults to protest the uncomfortable clothing they worn at younger ages. During the 1970’s, wearing of blue jeans became more acceptable. Donald freeman is known as one of the main pioneers of denim blue jeans. Jeans were expensive during the cold war since the Soviet Union blocked all the American exports. A main producer of denim jeans is Levi Strauss.

Since the beginning of jeans to the present day there have been many different variations of types of jeans like ankle jeans, bell bottoms, carpenter jeans and phat jeans.

The origins of bell bottoms are uncertain but are believed to begin with the U.S. Navy. They were very popular in the late sixties and the early seventies. The original men’s bell bottom pants and flares from the 1970s are collectible vintage clothing items. Worn by men to attend retro theme disco parties, worn in retro revival bands, and to wear clubbing

Carpenter jeans were used mainly by carpenters that is where the jeans got their name. Carpenter jeans are usually made of denim. These are usually the blue jeans we still see today. A hammer loop is also put on the jeans so that a carpenter can hold his hammer in his jeans. Other features include extra pockets, sometimes located on the outer thighs, and extra rivets for durability. Another feature is wider belt loops, to accommodate a wider, thicker belt.

Phat pants are a cut of jeans worn by ravers that are fitted at the waist but widen down the legs all the way to the ground where they enclose the feet due to their width. Phat pants are often worn with braces that are not designed to be worn over the shoulders. They hang loosely on the pants from the waist, and are usually brightly colored webbing with a reflective strip sewn in the middle. Usually, the ring at the back is made of a heavy metal, which helps the braces to swing out in an arc around the person when spinning. These pants are usually confused with hammer pants worn by many rappers.

Water Sports - Wakeboarding

Want to be in the water but don’t feel like relaxing and feeling like playing a sport in the water? There are a large number of sports that involve water like Triathlons. Triathlons include being in the water for part of the competition. You also would be running and cycling for the other stages of the race which you are being timed.

There are many beneficial health activities that can also be done in the water including water aerobics and water gymnastics. Many professional boxers practices shadow boxing underwater since the water has some movement restraints make them having to punch harder underwater which gives them more speed and power packed into their punch.

Underwater hockey is hockey played under water with short wooden curved sticks and a heavy puck. Players wear diving masks, snorkels, and fins, and must surface eventually to breathe while team mates continue the game on the pool bottom.

There are water motor sports with speed boats and jet skis. These are very fast races and some of the speed boats reach speeds which make it seem like it is flying over the water.

Contested swimming is a huge water sport. There are many well known swimmers especially like Michael Phelps. This kind of swimming is in the Olympics which features the worlds best out of every corner of the world.

Another huge water sport is water polo. Water polo is a team water sport requiring a superb ability to swim. Field players must swim end to end of a thirty meter pool non-stop many times during a game without touching the sides or bottom of the pool. The front crawl stroke used in water polo differs from the usual swimming style in that water polo players swim with the head out of water at all times to observe the playing field. They also use the arm stroke which is shorter but quicker and makes the polo player more capable of protecting the ball. Goalies use the eggbeater technique to keep themselves in a stable position and to waste less energy.

Wakeboarding is more of a recreational water sport but is more and more becoming a professional sport. Wakeboarding is like snowboarding and tubing combined, Wakeboarders use a board like that of a snowboard and is done will being pulled behind a boat. It takes time to perfect the art of wakeboarding. Having great balance is a major plus if you want to become a pro-wakeboarder

So why do water sports? If it’s a ninety degree day out and it is way to humid to be playing any ground sport wouldn’t you want to be in the relaxing water. Even if you fail or fall off the only punishment is falling into the cooling water.

Australian Football League

Australian football league

Footy tippings are the way of betting in the AFL, and with the help of Internet Footy tipping has been flooded with online football betting which has become very popular betting game in the Australian Football League. This year’s is the 110th season of the AFL.

A little bit of history on soccer or football to those non Americans.

There have been evidence from some ancient societies as the Chinese, Greek, Maya, and Egyptian, revealing that kicking games were a huge part of those cultures. The modern game of football (soccer to the Americans but football to the international scene) began in England, when a variety of football games were played, all of which involved both touching with the hands and kicking the ball. Australia, being one of the colonies of the United Kingdom, also started an enjoyment and love for the said game of football. However, the actual origin of the sport football is still both in doubt and in dispute since there had been numerous times that the aborigine natives of Australia were already playing the game even before the English came to colonize the area. On the other hand, some people also suggest that the criminals who were moved to Australia for their crimes and other immigrants started the game by playing some crude version of football. Some facts show many died while playing this version of Australia football. So no matter who you believe created Australian football it is still a very fun game to play or watch.

KIDZ in STYLE

Have a birthday party coming up? Or maybe it is time for a childs birthday party. Buying clothes and apparel for kids can be quite a challenge if you don’t know what to look for. Before you even get started, you will need to know the sizes you are looking for as well as the lifestyle of the parents. You need to make sure the childrens clothes appeal to the parents more than the kids, especially at a very young age. When it comes to sizes, remember that babies and small children wear sizes based on their actual weight and height. Going by age alone is bound to get you in trouble.

Make sure you check out the clothing charts that most children’s clothing manufacturers provide to get an idea of the size you are looking for. Most infant sizes are newborn to 24M and toddlers are usually sizes 2T to 4T. Be sure to check out the two-piece outfits so that parents don’t have to find something to match, or think about baby clothes that snap at the crotch to make easy access for quick diaper changes. Elastic is always a great way to go to make sure kids can wear your gift for good while.

No matter the culture that you come from or where you stay, as a parent you would want to give your child the best possible products and amenities. This is no different with clothing; you want your child to wear the best possible clothes to help them look their best. It is correct that there are ways to save on clothing that are also true for your children. If you wonder how this can be, finding and buying clothes online is way easier then going from to store to store nowadays. Research the different options available, since every store will offer a slightly different deal. Once you’ve done your homework, you’ll usually narrow it down to just a few stores to check out. While being at home you do not have to worry about your kids running around a store with a chance of getting lost. You can be right at home with your kid right beside you when you buy all his clothes. You should instead think about what articles of clothing he will require in the present season and seasons following.

Usually, there are seasonal discounts on children’s clothing deals. This way you can save money by planning to buy clothes to last the whole year. When looking for children’s clothing deals, you should try to avoid purchasing all the same type of dress and instead you should spread your buying out among many different clothing choices. Buying children’s clothing online is a easy and cheaper way then having to bring your kids everywhere and spending more money on gas then clothing by going from store to store.

Easy Home Improvement Projects

Easy Home improvement projects
Sounds like an oxymoron doesn’t it? I would have thought so when I first started working on projects.

Here’s what I learnt.

  1. First, do no harm. It’s important to be realistic about your strengths and abilities. Working at home, I quickly went from small paint jobs to planning and completing a dry-wall project in my basement. I knew to draw the line when it came time to build a deck though! Stick to the easy home improvement projects and you’ll be fine. If it gets too complicated, find yourself a good handyman.
  2. About that handyman: The LAST place you want to look for a handyman is in the yellow pages. Your best bet 9 times out of 10 is to get a referral. Start with your friends, ask a neighbor, talk to your co-workers…find someone who has had a great experience with a handyman on a similar project and hunt that handyman down. Easy! Home improvement projects CAN go smoothly after all.
  3. If you’re like me and you prefer to work on easy home improvement projects by yourself, get a checklist and plan for everything you will need. Okay, this tip will be a little self-serving, but I can’t stress the benefits of shopping in this online format for home improvement products. You’ll find products 20, 30, even 40% below retail prices. Delivered straight to your door! Try it. Scroll through the pages on this site and see what you find.

Home improvement supplies minus the tears

Home improvement supplies at prices that will not have you in tears! Well until recently most home improvement products were bought at retail stores. Folks were in tears even before they got to the store (I don’t know about where you live, but traffic in my area is insane!)

Luckily, with the advent of the internet, a much more efficient process for getting your home improvement supplies was created. This worked for a while, but in many cases it ended up being just like a retail store but online. You were still locked into waiting for home improvement items to go on sale to get what you would consider to be a “good deal”.

Shopping online in this way is still better than having to drive down to the store, but is there a better way yet? A next generation process, perhaps?

Short answer: YES! Shopping online on a store like this one. We do all the “shopping around” for you and compile a great selection of home improvement supplies at prices that are great.

How?

Our relationship with Ebay allows us to list only the specific products we believe in and YOU determine the price you’re willing to pay. If there is no one willing to pay more than you are, you get the product. Simple!

Happy Hunting.
